Where it is

The region lies in the north-west of Romania, along the Hungarian border, around Oradea, Arad and Baia Mare. Miniș-Măderat, near Arad, is the best-known vineyard area.

Land and climate

Moderate and temperate, with a little rainfall, and vineyards on gentle slopes in the western foothills of the Apuseni mountains.

Grapes and wines

Fetească Regală, Muscat Ottonel and Furmint are used for whites, and Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for reds. In Miniș, Cadarca makes light reds.
